| This is a unique example of how to engage the viewer without
completely divulging the subject, a most refreshing perspective. I find myself compelled by the haunting and mesmerizing
expression. I can only look and float between the nuances of the selective focus and depth of field, a quality which
compels me to look longer. This is so simple to look at yet the decisions made in presenting this are anything but. It

| Elegance exudes in this photo yet elegance is not enough to set a photo apart... | Sometimes a
photo moves you because it encourages you to be a part of the moment…
This is the case with the moment portrayed here. There is a beautiful
use of the light and we share the light on many levels from the edge light
on the models physique to the glimmering highlights of the fabric … so
whilst the photo seems so simple there are many, many layers of complexity
for the viewer to enjoy be it light or story…each unfolding like the fabric
the model holds. This is a magical moment for so many reasons and a pleasure

| I found myself struck by the use of movement that creates
a sense of fluidity to the composition. This sense of movement combined with the softness of the presentation has
a gentle quality that is beautiful and sensual. The light is well controlled and contrived with excellent tonal
range and balance. The composition compliments these elements perfectly in that it is not stagnant. The photo has
a story to share with the viewer and its mesmerizing qualities are unforgettable.

| I would like to extend my personal congratulations to the winner.
This is a beguiling photograph beautifully balanced in its tones. I find myself taunted by the flow of the composition. This is not about the female form, it is not about the landscape it is the integration of the two. In B&W the obvious separation of flesh tones from rocks is lost what remains is the yin and yang, the landscape and the woman, in harmony. This is a fine vision and one not easily achieved.

In this photo I was impressed with the well thought out composition that integrated the model beautifully into the location.
Here the model is a part of the stone work as if she were carved from it. Attention to details made all the difference to the
end results. Whilst the model is the focal point I found myself compelled to take in the whole composition and the richness
of the surrounding textures, yet my eyes return to the woman seemingly carved from stone.

| My congratulations go to the winner and I applaud the simplicity of the composition and how light was used to create an underlying complexity. This photo is not just about the nude, instead the nude becomes a canvas for the light to paint and the beautifully lit face that looms out of the shadows becomes the dominant focal point. Whilst the face may be a focal point the light and pattern created by this light on the physique gives the viewer cause to wander along the curves and shapes it creates only to be drawn back to the expression, a grounding point in the overall composition. | What struck me first was how beautifully the image was captured, every detail and nuance of the subject there for the viewer to share with a striking clarity. | As usual it was not an easy
task selecting the winner from the photos submitted. On this occasion

lighting has been carefully and beautifully used to create a softness

| This was the most difficult competition so far to decide the winners. The level of work was absolutely excellent. The simplicity of this photo is perhaps what makes it so strikingly sensual. The contrast of lines and curves are beautifully defined even the subtle nuance of the left side of the physique are all there to balance the composition. The composition combined with the soft lighting and use of negative space allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the final results. This is beautiful in all regards. The winning photo is an outstanding example of the art of photography.
The photo is not about the nude subject nor is it about the landscape instead
it is the unison and balance of the two that makes this photo unique and successful.
The composition is well conceived drawing the viewer in and moving the eye upwards.
The abundance of textures, from tree to distant shoreline, defined by the nuances
of the tones adds to the underlying complexities of the photo. This is a shining
example of creative thinking and photographic skill.

| My choice for first place
was as usual a difficult one. I would not normally go for a composition
that is so centered, however rules are meant to be broken by the right
photograph and this is one of those images. The tones are excellent and
the details are exquisite. I was also taken with the depth of field and
the beautiful textures of the rocks against the smooth details of the
model that adds to the overall image. This is an image that captivates
the viewer and would be hung on walls around the world. My personal congratulations

| This was a very tough decision
with a very high caliber of work being submitted for the competition.
I would like to offer my personal congratulations to the winners of this
competition. My reasons for the 1st place decision were based on the attention to detail and an absolutely fantastic image capture combined with a beautifully thought out and executed composition. The image has wonderful symmetry with a superb tonal range that is beautiful to behold. The key to this image aside from the composition was the dark background against the light side of the body and the light background against the dark side of the body. This truly set the image apart from the others. Please pass on my personal congratulations to the winner! |
