I use a Kodak Easy Share Z612 because it is so easy to use. I am very much an amateur so I need something that takes good pictures but I don't have to be a professional to use.

I don't know what kind of photography you want to do and how much you can spend, but as a general rule you should spend less on the body and more on the lenses. You don't want to spend all your budget on the body and end up shooting though cheap plastic. On top of that, pro lenses keep their value while cameras don't.
You can pick canon or nikon bodies and slowly build up your lens stock. In the future upgrade to another body and still enjoy the same lenses. Try if you can to avoid DX lenses.
You can also check www.kenrockwell.com for reviews of bodies.
Hope this helps. In my case I have the Nikon D300. Very happy with it but got it a few weeks before the new D700 came out. I try to change it since I like the idea of a full frame (but like I said) I was loosing too much money in the process.
cheers

hallo! I use Canon EOS 400D and lenes 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS USM, Sigma 70-300mm DG macro 3.5-5.6, 18-55mm.
I use this Camera for one year ago but I will buy Canon 50D or 5D Mk II.
But many times I think that´s much better to have 50D and two great lenses as EF 70-200mm L4 L IS USM and Canon 180mm macro. |

I my self use a Nikon d60 that is a 10.2 megapixel digital camera. It has a lot of good functions and takes awesome pictures. use a 18-55 lens for every day pics and then change up to a 70-300 for a telephoto lens for for long range photos as well as panoramic shots. good luck in your adventures... |

While a Nikon enthusiast for years, I have been won over by the Fuji S3 and S5 either of which my photos on here were captured. |
